Diverse of ecosystems in Cat Ba National Park
Cat Ba National Park is a unique area of Vietnam that has been recognized by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve because of its’ rich and unique animal and plants system.
It is a combination of many ecosystems, including montane evergreen forest, highland montane forests, coastal mangroves, coastal areas, cave systems, valleys, and residential areas.
These are highly representative ecosystems of diverse ecology and rare genetic resources, many of which have high researching value of global prominence.
Flora in Cat Ba National park
If you are interested in discovering the distinction of the plant on earth, this is the place you cannot miss. The composition of the plant has 1585 species of forest plants, many types of precious trees such as Tembusu, yellow flametree, Nageia fleuryi and Annamocarya that, other than Cat Ba national park, can only be found in the Himalayan mountains. The flora system here is divided into 30 species of mangroves, 102 seaweed species and 400 phytoplankton species.
Different types of animal
Besides having the diverse flora, Cat Ba national park is also the home of 343 species living in the jungle including 58 species of mammals, 205 species of birds, 55 species of reptiles and 24 species of amphibians.
Especially, the Cat Ba langur that is on the edge of extinction with only about 60 individuals still exist. In the sea system of Cat Ba National park, there are 131 species of Zooplankton, 196 species of marine fish, 177 species of coral.

How to get to Cat Ba National park
From the center of Cat Ba National Park, you can choose one of 5 routes to explore the resources of plants and animals of different types.
The three long routes take about 4-8 hours of walking and climbing activities include Frog pond to Viet Hai route; The Bau Bau – Military Garrison; Kim Giao – Mé Con – Tung Di.
Or you can go along the short ways including Kim Giao – Mount Ngu Lam Forest to Environmental education and The Trung Trang Cave to Cau cave, which might take 2 to 3 hours of driving on motorbikes, bicycles, cars, and hiking.
What is interesting on the trip
Along the way, you will be amazed at how beautiful this natural landscape is with countless limestone karsts, caves, waterfalls and streams flowing to the sea in the rainy season. Also, Cat Ba National Park attracts tourists by the values of history. The archaeological sites found here suggest that humans may have lived in this area between 6000 and 7000 years ago.0
